I always find it interesting in how much time, effort and money is put into fan films, when they could be developing their own ideas...?

yeah, i know! this is an extreme case too. the budget is nearly 1 million dollars! for that amount award winning features have been made!

the writing doesnt look like it will be very clever or imaginative either... i got a laugh at seeing the guy move his lips in a funny way and still look and sound like the agent guy... but that wouldnt hold your attention for 90 minutes...

i try not to come across negative all the time but the humour seems pretty school boyish from this trailer... ie. not very thought out and just guys acting dumb [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img]

it's not a direct spoof of The Matrix, but I expect Kung-Pow makes The Helix look lame (if fresher Airplane/Top Secret/Naked Gun humour in a kung fu movie appeals).

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Probably because just like the Wayans brothers they don't have their own ideas. It looks rubbish; so I'm sure it'll make a fortune.

depends on your sense of humour. it's one of the very few films that's had me in stitches and laughing so hard it made me cry!

I have to say though - Helix looks potentially good from the trailer, although it comes across as a sketch show of 'obvious' parodies on the Matrix.

I appreciate Kung Pow as a punter and a filmmaker - they entirely redubbed and recut a 70s martial arts movie and composited in the main guy in virtually every shot! awesome! and the best bit is - i didn't find out about all that sfx work until after I'd seen it!

at the very least it's worth renting IMO.

I've seen Kung Pow. Horrible. Neat effects but totally **** story. Te trailer had me laughing really hard but the film lost steam after the first ten minutes. The jokes were mostly embarrassingly childish. The trailer is a riot, though.
